(a) Define fundamental rights with supporting examples.
➤ Fundamental rights are the rights guaranteed by the constitution of a country to its people for all-round development. The total 31 fundamental rights in Nepal are mentioned in the Constitution of Nepal 2072. For e.g. right to freedom, right to equality etc.
(b) Rights and duties are complementary to each other. Justify the statement.
➤ Rights are the legal claims whereas duties are the moral or legal obligation or a responsibility. Rights and duties are the complementary to each other because people can claim their rights only by fulfilling their duties. Rights and duties both go side by side. These are the two wheels of a chariot because one becomes incomplete in the absence of other. When an individual exercises their rights, they should not create any kind of disturbance to others. It means, every citizen should be self-restraint while using their rights. To claim rights one has to discharge their duties.
(c) The Nepalese citizens are provided enough fundamental rights but they are not aware enough to exercise their rights. Provide any four appropriate suggestions to make them aware of their rights.
➤ The major four suggestions to make people aware about their rights are as follows:
1. Provide education, knowledge and information about the fundamental rights.
2. Conduct social and awareness programs, campaign, street drama etc.
3. Publishing on newspaper, broadcasting on radio and television, internet
4. By promoting constitutional laws, implementing and providing rights and privileges to citizen.
(d) Which article of the Constitution of Nepal deal with women rights? Write the importance of women rights.
➤ Article no. 38 i.e. rights of women of the Constitution of Nepal deal with women rights.
The importance of women rights are as follows:
1. Women empowerment, education
2. Equal lineage, participation, opportunity etc.
3. Access to the health care services
4. Reduction of discrimination, violence, torture etc.
5. Cessation of traditional practices
6. Equal rights to parental property
