➤ Tourism is an emerging service based industry in Nepal. It has been recognized as one of the major economic sectors for its immense contribution in national GDP about 3% and about 20% in employment. Tourism industry is very important economic sector of Nepal because of following reasons:
1. Sources of national income and foreign currency
2. Creation of employment opportunity
3. Sources of private and public income
4. Promote internal and external trade
5. Growth of cottage and small scale industries
6. Development of infrastructure

➤ Tourism is the business activity related to the services provided for tourists during their stay in a place. Nepal has an immense possibility for the development of tourism industry. The flow of tourists can be increased in Nepal as it is a land of wonders. Nepal is very rich in eye-catching natural beauty, historical heritages, food, culture and a big variation in topography such as Himalayas, Hilly and Terai and climate are the sources to attract the tourists. Nepal is also a hotspot destination for adventure tourism like mountaineering, rock climbing, rafting, bungee jumping, cycling etc. Likewise, sports tourism, religious tourism, rural tourism, Safari stand as additional glory.
Thus, these are the great possibility for the development of tourism in Nepal.
